Jill Scott, the daughter of Joyce Scott in Philadelphia Pennsylvania was born April 4 April 1972. The family was dominated by her grandmother, and she was a sole child. Scott studied at the Philadelphia High School for Girls. After graduation in the year 2000, she enrolled at Temple University. Scott completed her secondary school education and also worked at two job. The hope was to become a English high school teacher. This dream however, ended up being a short-lived dream when she quit college after three year of study and became a teachers' aide. Being a poet She began to sing at live poetry recitals. Later, she joined forces along with Amir Quest Thompson (of The Roots) to form a group. You Got Me is the outcome of their collaboration. During Roots' show, she revealed herself to be an artist. After that, she secured collaborations with stars such as Eric Benet Will Smith and Common. During the Canada tour of Rent, the Broadway musical Rent She gained invaluable experiences performing. She was signed by the label's first artist.
